Happy Pry Month!
It’s that time of year again when we turn off our phones, hot spots, televisions, and news feeds in order to better enjoy life and creation as it is. It’s a wonderful world out there, so go out and celebrate it!
For the uninitiated, Pry Month is a little tradition we have every June in my family where we seek to PRY our eyes away from all the things the corporate world demands their attention for. What this essentially means is that we avoid visits to the Unreal City as much as possible, use our devices as little as possible, and simply bask in the existence we are given free of contrivance and the typical fabricated urgency of the Internet. Ruth Gaskovski at the
has been encouraging her readers to take a 30-day detox from the digital devices. Consider this my family’s contribution to that endeavor. As much as I’d like to switch things off completely today, you should expect a new article to drop from me a little later. I tried my best to get it out to you last night, but fate would not have it.
Lastly, you should also be receiving the OTR Newscap here in a day or two. We’re switching things up a bit and will be introducing a new writer to the OTR crew, so be on the lookout for this exciting new development.
Wonderful idea Derek! Thanks for the mention:) I have heard back from many readers who participated in last months digital detox and while almost everyone experienced challenges, all of them were grateful for the mental freedoms that they managed to reclaim. Joining together as a family is an additional pro, and I hope you'll share your experience with your readers at the end of Pry Month! All the best:)
